Well I don't agree with you.
Leave it to humans to ruin life and the planet.
What gives us the right to kill an animal into extinction.
Future generations are going to look at us as being barbaric and cruel.

We are all entitled to our opinion...I understand that, but what I don't understand is that you think killing a whole species is just a part of life. How is that humane. I could understand if they became extinct by an act of nature, but I don't see what we are doing is that. To me it is selfishness and greed. We should be trying to make it a better place for our children and theirs. Please watch the movie and then come back here and tell me you think it is ok, and that it is just natures way.

Honestly I would love for you to see this documentary. I learnt so much from it. It is not just about sharks.

It might be wasteful - shark steaks are tasty, after all. Why harvest only the fin? THAT is just laziness. I disagree with your essential position, which is that humans don't have the right to exist. Take a look at all of nature, don't be so tunnel-visioned. Species become extinct when they cannot handle the conditions, whatever they may be. Why is OUR species "outside of nature"?

Oh my gosh...you can't be serious!!!!
Why do we have the right as human beings to catch a shark cut its fins off and through it back in the ocean still alive to die. You can't tell me that it is ok for an animal to go extinct for this. A creature that has been here for over 400 million years. Every year over 100 million sharks are slaughtered in this way so rich people can eat a bowl of soup...which the fin does NOT even add a flavor just texture. You can honestly tell me that this is ok, and if we kill out an entire species for this it was just the sharks time to die. Yes I agree many animals have died off and nobody has done anything, but people know that humans are killing sharks and many other ocean life because they get caught up in fishing line and die. This is something we can put a stop to if people actually care enough to do so. I could really go on and on but I don't see a need...you should really tale the 90 minutes out of your life and educate yourself on how this will affect our planet and the way we live. I am just honestly baffled by your response to this!!!

I don't agree that animals have rights, in the same way people do (or should do.) As I said before, I think it's a waste to use one bit and throw the rest back. But it's better than throwing it into a landfill. And like I said, there were hundreds and hundreds of species that came into and out of existence before our time completely. It's not about us "ignoring it" - it's the nature of life. So I don't see how one species will affect our planet to the extent that it's worth getting over-excited about.

I really think you should take the time to watch this movie, and your mind may change.
It is not just about sharks...it is also about the affects it will have on our planet if the shark goes extinct.

I honestly think your mind would change if you seen what we are doing to helpless creatures that have just as much right to be here as we do if not more.

Right to be here? Why would sharks have more right to be here than us? In nature, the most fit survive. If sharks are being killed just to kill, then that's a waste of a good resource. To tell you the truth, I was only part joking. I think it's a shame to kill for the sake of making something dead, rather than to utilize the thing for a purpose, whether it's food, or fuel or clothing or whathaveyou.

Do you know how many species have lived and died without us ever having anything to do with them? Some species can last a long time, and then they meet their match. It sounds like the shark may have met his, if it's true it's on the verge of extinction. Something will come along to take its place, because that's how nature operates.
